Sorry to drag up an old thread but you guessed it, ... I have a similar problem with a 1998 C200 Classic.

I traced the buzzing to the overhead light panel and removed the large plastic plug in the centre. I put a finger up there and felt some vibration that was making a noise with the cable harness resting on top of the internal parts. Moving the harness a little got rid of the worst noise, but a low-level vibration drone remains.

I figure I can fix this but my problem now is getting the unit out of the roof. There are two slots on either side that I thought might house 'tangs' or similar but I haven't found a way to release the unit yet.

That baby is firmly up there and I don't want to use any force that would cause damage. Any help about removal of the overhead light panel would be much appreciated.
