84 300D tranny removal (cont)

I am planning on removing my 84 300D w/ a turbo automatic tranny

I just broke the connection between the drive shaft and the transmission output shaft (the six nuts and bolts) (thanks for the help guys). Do I need to pull the drive shaft off? It does not seem like it needs removal.

I will remove the vacuum hoses, dipstick tube, inlet and exit pipe to and fro the radiator tomorrow. Then I will give those bell housing bolts using a 2 ft extension wrench a shot while jacking it up from below at the pan and another location that i have not yet decided.

Do i need to remove anything else prior to those bolts for example the gear shift lever? What about the shaft on the engine side, I assume that i will take care of that once I get the bell housing bolts off.
