I too was really surprised the ferrule did the trick, it was sort of a last resort kind of deal since I really needed to drive the car back to Stillwater today. Even though I am replacing all the lines while I am at it, I think I will throw a 3/16" compression coupler and my spare tubing cutter in the toolbox in case by some stroke of terrible fortune I ever break (or rub through) an injector line out on the road.

The Zerex I bought at Auto-Zone two weeks ago, deos not list as G-05, but rather lists as "Heavy Duty" patented formula - antifreeze coolant - "for all metals, including aluminum" Part No: ZX001

Now I wonder? Are there two versions of the same product, one clear, the other green?

I priced a complete set of injector lines and WOW! they are expensive! Try about $33 each!
