I have Yokohama Avid V4S's on my SDL and they are one of the best tires I have ever had. They have tons of traction and run very quite. For a performance tire the wear well to. It sounds like your tires were left out in the sun for a long time. Yokohama makes a good product, Mich sells their name well but their are a lot of better tires out their.

My moms car has a set of expensive Michellin's on it, their ok but don't really do anything better then the Yokohama's. Except cost a lot more.
