You're right about that the relay can be faulty. I don't really know why I checked the relay at all. When searching the forum I learnt that when the relay was bad the RPM-gauge wasn't functioning. However - when reading about the OVP-relay it sounds like a strange "gadget" that can cause several things to behave wierd.
I don't have a "known" good relay to perform a test with but I can get the partnumber and post it tomorrow (It's my fathers car so I don't have access to it right now)
Any other thoughts about the startup self test?? Am I on the right track?? By the way -according to my father the battery is replaced recently so I don't think it's a low-voltage-problem.
