You might also look around and perhaps post on the BiodieselNow forum's local initiative section. They actually have a section just for the Virginia, Maryland, DC area, and it seems fairly active. You shouldn't have much trouble finding helpful homebrewers out there. I met a group of St. Louis brewers through the same resource.

Good luck! It is really an easy proccess, but I feel 100% more confident about it having had a chance to go through it with a few other people. Much easier than learning it all from scratch.
