Surface prep, meaning cleaning off the old pad and adhesive as much as possible, is key to keeping a new pad from sagging, as much as using the proper adhesive. As an aside, I'm waiting for a new pad to arrive, but last week it was raining here and it was "interesting" watching the raindrops turn to steam on the surface of the hood . . . that's can be good for the paint!
