and a big mess becomes an even bigger one

Hi,
thanks for your reply, I followed the links and printed out everything you had wrote before. I cannot get the black cylinder that surrounds the tumbler off. I have tried to turn it, yank it, pry it. I push the wire in, feel the spring enage which I assume means the paw has been pushed in but it seems to do nothing to release anything. I originally could not get my key in at all, after about an hour of messing with I got the key in, jiggled the steering wheel, used the back a jigsaw to apply vibration, everything I could think of and it still would not turn. I appled some more vibration and then the key started to turn and then broke. So now I am really just up a creek. I can still turn that outside metal piece around so I can still line it up and get the wire in to the slot but in reality the whole tumbler is not turned to the 2 o'clock position, does this matter or is it just that the paw has to be able to be pushed? I am at the point of seriously considering drilling the old one out. Have you ever heard of this working? I don't know what a mechaninc would even do at this point other than drill it since they key has now broke off. Many thanks to any more advice
