Favorite Regional Foods

One of the nice things about traveling a lot in the US, is get to find out what the regional specialities are as you travel the states. I just thought I would list a few I've came across - perhaps you could share the same info so us travelers would know what to order when in town:

Maryland - Whenever I have a layover in Baltimore, which is just about always if you fly Southwest, I always grab a bowl of crab bisque from a nice sit down resturant on the concourse out side of the secured area. I've also ordered it at a few bars there as well. It is fabulous.

Missisippi - every Southern state thinks they barbecue the best pork ribs. In Ole Miss, it ain't no brag. I don't know what they put on those things, but they will blast you out of your seat if you eat at the down home resturants.

New Hampshire - On the coast, lobster with a New England Claim Chowder on the side. Just about any of the lobster houses in Portsmouth or along the US 1 or 1A coastal highways will blow you away

Maine - Maine Scallops cooked in maple syrup. Out of this world

Louisiana - forget the gumbo, order the oyster stew. Nothing like it. Those friggin bacon-wrapped shrimps stuffed with hot peppers and cheese are a heart attack on a plate, but worth dying for. Do your cardiologist a real favor and dip them in melted butter.
