My 1985 300SD takes eight US quarts.
Remove cover and filter, drain oil, replace drain plug seal ring, install new filter cover O rings, install new filter, add eight quarts oil.

If your lower drain pan is not damaged, the level should be correct after running ninty seconds and setting with engine off for an hour.
