I've had DSL for 2-3 years and the service has been perfect to say the least (only one outage in 2 years that lasted 1-2 hours) but lately I've been getting lag and dropped connections. I put new CAT5 connectors and everything, I tested the phone line with a signal generator.

How long do DSL modems last? and what is that absolute BEST modem I can buy? I currently have a cheap speedstream.
