Not sure what else could crack a block. Could washing a hot engine with cold water do it?

I have only had the car a little less than 2 weeks. I drove it to work 2 days after I bought it then it started doing this. Possible that it wasn't where it should have been on coolant protection I guess. It does have an oil puddle under it so I'll be checking that out in the morning. Thanks for your thoughts!
