I have Pirellis on the 16 inch rims for my 1990 300SL-24 (225/55-16) and I do NOT like them.
I don't know what type they are (never cared enough to have a close look), but they tend to make noise when braking after high speed rides. The tires wear too fast, but stick to the road fairly good.
