I know how to clone desktop HD (using Ghost or other program) for back up and in case of HD failure, but how does one do the same for a laptop miniHD?

How do I connect 2 mini-HD to a laptop or a desktop to duplicate? My laptop HD is making more noise than before and I suspect it will dye shortly so I need to clone it to a good and larger mini-HD.
