Rod bearings: replacement on M130

I have got bad rod bearing(s) on the 1971 W114. The noise sounds like a SICK ENGINE. The car was driven 4 to 5 miles at minimal rpm's and parked.

When I remove the caps and inspect the crankshft, and if I find no evidence of scoring or gouging on the crank journals, will a replacement set of rod bearings fix the car?

Otherwise, its' headed for the boneyard. Sad to see end up there, there is no little rust.
