Yes, as on my car, the S/C IS the airpump.
What happens is, on a cold start ( specific temperature range involved ), air from the S/C is diverted into the exhaust on start-up.
This reduces the catalytic converter warm-up time ( cutting emissions ).
While this air injection is taking place, the ECU ( computer ) is looking at the oxygen sensor, expecting to see a " Lean " signal.
If it does not see this, it will set a po 410 code.
Please note this is a simplified version.
I'm sure there is a lot more to it.
Same thing happened on my car last spring.
I tested as much as I could ( never did pin point the problem ) & kept erasing the code.
After about 4 weeks it just stopped doing it.
