I am also a cheap bas**** and also a hobby machinist/welder. I've machined and repaired more parts and toold/fixtures than you can imagine. My shop is well equipped with a lathe and milling machine. However, I do know that I would not be able to properly drill an injection line, and then bend it like the drip tube. If the tube is not perfect, then the timing won't be either. I'm gonna buy the tube and I'll let you know the hole diameter.
