It's normal and common in hot weather.

Most of the components inside the engine are hotter than the coolant, so when you shut down the engine heat migrates to the coolant and it heats up because it is not circulating to carry the heat away.

Upon restart the engine should quickly cool as the hot coolant is pumped out of the engine and the colder coolant from the radiator is drawn in.
