Poorly built cars, a lot of the jettas are made in mexico. I dont know if its assembly or parts they used, but a lot of failures. I know two people with jettas. One has a 2000 vr6 and the other is a 2002 1.8T.
On the VR6 some of the experienced problems included blown coil packs, broken window regulator and heated seats. On the 1.8T, the turbo actually blew out and had to be replaced. All of course which are covered under warranty, but who wants to be making visits to dealership all the time? Most important part with buying Jettas is having bumper to bumper warranty, cause you'll be taking advantage of it often.
