mine is quiet while moving it up or down, but after it has been moved it makes a clunk sound, I think that is the lock going into place? When it pops up (possible rollover detected) it makes a lot of racket though, like Whirrr!!! and then slam. This has only happened twice in 3 yrs. As long as it works I don't worry about it.
