I have gotten to the panel on which the push buttons are mounted and it seems to be pretty firmly attached in a sandwich arrangement with the PC board on the back a a plastic retainer on the front to hold the buttons in I think. They don't want you to take that apart as they have put seals that show you've been there if you go there. Someone else mentined that he thinks the buttons come off-though I think it is an earlier model than my 93 300SD. Sure seems that you should not have to take the whole console apart to change a light bulb!

Got any help on getting the panel over the footwell off?
