Some tips:

-I have heard that the W126 back glass will shatter REALLY easily. Be VERY careful removing/installing this glass, and watch how you handle it.
-Rear glass for this car is quite a bit more expensive than a windshield. I once had a windshield replaced in my 83 300SD for $300 including tax, and they quoted $1400

for the back glass (can't remember if it included installation & tax or if it was just for the glass)
-The seals are definately different between the earlier and later glass. The trim is different, so make sure you buy the seal based on the year of car you are installing the glass into.
-The mouldings go into the seal BEFORE the glass is put in the car, not after! The install method should be: 1. Install seal onto glass 2. Install moulding into seal 3. Install seal/moulding/glass onto the car.
-Check carefully for rust when you take the old glass out. The W126 is well known to rust under the rear window (where the corners of the trunk lid meet the bottom edge of the back glass). Make sure to treat this area appropriately. There is a forum member who found extensive rust there and posted his pics.. perhaps you can search for these.
