Shops in South Ont

Stay AWAY from a place called BUDO motors in Etobicke.
Stay far far far away.
Very very very far away. Do not let them even see your car from across the road.

That didn't help you much I guess but it felt good saying it.

Bloor and Islington??

There is a shop in that exact area and I cannot emphasize this enough...if they are still in business stay away from BUDO motors!

He has moved several times and I had to call the police to find him and get my car back and ...you don't want to know.

I cannot say it enough different ways stay away from that shop.

I also recommend Charlie McNally. We have been going to him for at least 3 years now and find him very competent, knowledgeable and reliable. His price is very good too. His shop is on Lepage court, south of Finch off of Keele st. in North York, Toronto.
Try him you will not be disappointed.

I like Forli Motors in downtown Toronto (Richmond & Parliament Sts). Lou Forli is a great guy who has lots of experience with the older models.

His mechanics have been with him for decades. I took my 1984-380SL to him for its 96,000km major maintenance a few days ago and I am very happy with the results.

He goes the extra mile for his customers. Definitely worth a look by anyone looking for a good MB shop in Toronto.

I will be in Toronto soon. Does anyone have any experience with Markham Mercedes Dealer service?

Thanks

As much as I hate using the dealer, my wife won't use an independent. My ratings of dealers in the Greater Toronto Area that we have used:

Markham: Average
Downtown Toronto: Good
Ajax: Good
Newmarket: Poor
Barrie: Very Poor

Hope this helps.

I also recommend Charlie McNally. They were very pleasant and helpful in diagnosing the Check Engine light on my C230.

PO170 was the code they pulled. Disconnected the battery, replaced the MAS myself, which is apparently a common problem on the W202, and no more illluminated CE light!

Thanks to Dacia nd Cigar Havana for their recommendation!

I'd like to add a recommendation for Charlie McNally as well. After being tipped about him on this forum, I've seen him for a few things. His pricing is great, the work is done promptly, and his integrity is beyond compare.

Thanks to the forum members who refered me to him. The dealer will never see my car again.

If you insist on using a dealer, then MB Express on Queensway in Etobicoke is the best in the area. See Chris Wysocki if you can. He's great, and they don't mind at all if you go in to the shop and talk to the mechanics or watch the work being done. I haven't found the new Mississauga dealer on Mavis to be all that good in the customer service area.

Montreal Mechanic, worth the trip!

Found an awesome mechanic in Montreal and with the exchange rate you can get work done and pay for a mini vacation! I had a bad engine and he put in a used 560 sel engine in and the car has never run better. He specializes in Mercedes. Ask for Tony.

Lethbridge, Alberta area mechanic?

Have my eye on a nice little 190E that I'd like to get checked out at a mechanic who knows his way around.

Thanks

Thumbs down Henneken in Vancouver - scary story

Hans of Henneken absolutely misdiagnosed my transmission problem and quoted me C$3,200 (February 2003) for a complete overhaul. I took it to Stan’s Transmission for an A1 job for C$2,200. Henneken charged me C$90.00 for the diagnosis!
