After reading a couple of threads, I am a little confused.

I "think" that there are some sort of speakers in the front doors, I have "felt" the air moving with my hand.

I do not think they are driving properly, which could be explained perhaps by the replacement, by a previous owner of the standard head unit with an Alpine unit, (low power internal amp) + in trunk 6 CD changer unit.

The console fader makes little difference, so I suspect a funky installation.

The Haynes manual I got does not give any real technical info on the "scheme".

Anyone offer any help, I have avalable 4*6.5 Polks and 2 external amps which I would like to re-use if possible, but I would go with new if needed.

Are there really speakers in the doors ? if so how are they wired wrt the other 4 ?

Thanks

Mike

I don't know what exact car you are driving (US spec. or not), but the european W124's NEVER came with speakers in the front doors!
If you have a euro spec. W124, you probably have no speakers in the front doors. If you have an US spec. W124 with speakers in the front door, you should be seeing them through the grating in the door panel! I believe that this grating (and speaker) is situated under the armrest...

Sorry I did not specify, its a US spec 124.

I can confirm that it is under the armrest.

I look into the grill and don't really see anything that looks like a speaker, its almost like the grill is a blank grill.

I wondered last night if is might be a small subwoofer, which could explain the way it looks from the outside.

I (and my daughter, who uses the car) can feel the pressure wave sometimes, but it is weak.

Thanks for the reply.

I guess I should also ask if anyone still has the used 124 CD's that were available a couple of weeks ago.

Mike
