Weird radio problem...

Initially I had this problem several months ago...

I just got a new battery via MB Roadside Assistance yesterday after getting 9 years out of the original :-0 For those interested, I live in the Northern VA/Wash DC area and my total cost was $174 and change.
After the battery change, when I shut off the car the radio stays on and I have to turn it off manually. Before the change, the radio would shut off when the ignition was shut off. What gives? How can I change it back so the radio will shut down automatically?

I was never able to figure out the problem so I just lived with it for a couple months. Went over a bump in the road due to some road work the other day and the radio went out. Can't even power it on now. No clue what happened?? Checked the fuses and they appeard to all be intact. Anyone got a clue?? 1999 ML430.
