95 E320 W124 Sedan Bose Stereo Question..

Recently acquired a 95 e320 sedan with original Bose head unit. I am thinking about replacing it with either a JVC KD-R900 Bluetooth receiver or a Blaupunkt Toronto 410 BT Bluetooth receiver.

Question 1:

If I go with the JVC KD-R900, would I need to rewire the speaker wires? My car doesn't have the infamous center console fader switch, and it has 2 factory amps on the right rear tire wall. I'm hoping it'll be a straight install if I can find all the needed wires from the back of the bose unit.

Any thoughts and/ or diagrams are much appreciated.

Question 2:

Will it be a straight connection with the new Blaupunkt unit? I mean would the wire harness from the Bose unit fit perfect into the new Blaupunkt unit?

Here's a link to the Blaupunkt unit: Blaupunkt: Bluetooth Tuner[view]=1353&no_cache=1&L=1

I want to equip this car with a decent bluetooth cellphone capability so I don't have to rely on those spotty Motorola bluetooth microphones.

Much obliged!

I liked the oem Bose system in my cabrio. It worked great. I think you will have to rewire the system since the Bose system has the amps an etc.

Okay, feedback:

My 1995 E320 came equiped with Becker 1492. There's 2 oem wiring harness going into the back of the becker unit. one of them controls the cd changer, the other houses the rest of the wires.

Using a wiring diagram i got from a thread somewhere on this site, i was able to hook up all the connections without any issues.

Snaked the wired microphone underneath the center console and then up the driver seat, i clip the mic right next the the headrest. Everything is working perfect now and it only took me 2+ hours.

Another job well done!

Which Head Unit?

Hey Maruzo,
Which head unit did you go with? I'm thinking about the Blau 410 for my 2002 E320 and am wondering if it's a straight connection or will require a new harness.

No Bose

So, for future readers, no 124 sold in the US came with a factory installed Bose anything. All Becker components and MB speakers.
