1993 S class antenna nasty noises

my antenna goes up and down, but when it reaches its fully extended position, the motor makes a nasty clicking grinding sound for about 10 seconds...kind of embarassing because it's audible outside as well. Any suggestions?

BTW, i do have the integrated cell phone so the cell phone antenna is part of the assembly
