Question 140 Cd Changer

I have a 93' 500 SEL w/no CD. Will the factory head unit support and run one? If so, is there a wiring harness to plug in to?

The 140 car is set up to work with a becker 980 10 cd changer that is out of production. There is a way to add an alpine m-bus 6 cd changer to the factory system controlled through the stock radio. The plug in is at the tuner box(1532) in the trunk behind the left side trim panel. It requires three cables from PIE a translator box from mbz and an alpine cmh-s620 cd changer.

So would a Mercedes dealer have the translator? I assume all you do is hook up the translator to the cd changer.

I talked to my dealer, and they said the plug is an aftermarket item. Should I just talk to Crutchfield?

Scott, are you sure that the interface is still available from MB? I was informed that MB-parts ran out of stock over a year ago.

No it is not . You still need the interface adaptor but you have most of the cables needed.

Question 600SEL - what cables do I need?

I have 92 600SEL with the factory 10 disk changer that I'd like to replace with Alpine. My understanding is that I need MBZALP9 adapter from Peripferal and some cables from MB. Do I need all 3 cables listed at the Peripferal web site (Q 6 82 0135, Q 6 82 0174, Q 6 82 0175) or some of them are part of the factory CD?

How much would it cost to exchange the becker Unii with the Alpine...in other words what is the cost of the cables needed for the change?
