Question component systems

how 'bout component systems for a 94 E320? as i said in other threads, i wanna upgrade my stereo w/o costing an arm and a leg! i spoke to some people and they said that disabling my front dash speakers and installing tweeters in their place, and then removing the door subs and putting in woofers from the same component system in their place would be a good idea. not make it a concert in my car but definately improve sound quality. the tweeter and sub comes w/ a crossover as part of the component system.
i would
1. disable front dash, leaving wires and speakers in place.
2. install crossover that lead to tweeters and woofers in doors. run those all to the new receiver's front speaker output. the rear would be left alone.
btw, i installed a new receiver and cd changer in the car. sony cdx-m630. which gives off 23.2 continous w/ 50 peak.
problem i'm experiencing now is a clicking noice coming from front dash speakers, which probably is caused by too much power feeding from the deck to the old speakers which might not be able to handle the new deck's power.
thoughts?
thanks!
