Just bought a 92 300TE. Has the factory radio with the bass boost setup. Looks like battery has recently been replaced and radio scattered. When you enter the 5 digit code, the amplification appears to turn on, but no tuner output/info on the radio, and anteena doesn't go up. Radio dial reads E 2. ?? Never seen this! Doesn't this model have separate fuses for the radio head and the amplifier section? #1 fuse in the box is good, is there another? Thanks in advance for the help.

Under thr right rear trim panel (opposite spare tire) there is a second part to radio/stereo system. There is a 5a fuse in this radio section & it is probaly blown. "E2" means that rear half isn't responding to commands from the front.

Thanks for the tip. I found the amp and what appears to be some sort of line level box. The fuse on what appeared to be the amp did not appear to be blown, but I replaced it anyway. Same result, but now the antenna at least runs. Hmmm....Is there another fuse somewhere on the chassis of the head unit? or do you suppose a disconnect of the battery might lose the fault? I get a turn on thump, but no display from the head. Also, once I enter the 4 digit code, it turns itself back off. Neat huh! Appreciate your insight as my independent (you know them)is closed all week and our dealer (you know them too) might as well be closed all year. Thanks again, allen.

Allen - who do you recommend for the "independent"? I just moved to the Perry area and am looking for reputable MB folks that I can carry the car to if needed.
Thanks
