Hi all, there is this great car wash near my house, they run the car in their machine, but instead of brushes in there, its got guys in full rain parkas washing the soap into the car with terry towels.

They have a deal, $55 per month for unlimited washes. A Normal wash is $21.00 for a good wash including anti rust inhibitors, bottom cleaning and all the protectants.

I was thinking if I got the deal they have, I would take my car for a wash at a minimum of once a week, perhaps twice a week.

Their drying system has sensors that detect the cars position and change the height of the unit keeping it approximately 4 inches away from the car's surface at all times.

Do you guys think this is a good deal? I could take my car for a wash every single day if I wanted using this deal package.

Last time I went there, my car came out looking great, and I watched as it went in, and it looks to be as good as a regular hand wash but better because it takes 10 minutes.

That doesn't mean I wont be doing the buffing/waxing job I do on my regular 3 month schedule. utilizing the proven meguires products we use.

Alon

Alon,
I go to similar place by my house, only in the winter though, and I don't go at peak times because I don't think they can keep the clothes clean enough when the lines get long. I also do the wax, etc afterwards on my own. $55 is a steal if you wash your car a lot but not if you do it once every 2 weeks. Just my opinion....

hehe Well as it is I try to wash the car myself once every two weeks, but with my hectic schedule the last month, I havent had a chance to give it a good washing.

So based on the time constraints, I would definately do ti once a week minimum if I got the deal.

It does sound like a very good deal though.

Too bad its a per car deal hehe. otherwise I'd be bringing in my brothers car too hehe.

Alon,
It seems like every automated "Brushless" car wash in my area has changed their format to 10 guys washing the car in rainsuits on an automated line. The cost for the wash alone is $13. With the liquid wax stuff $16 and if you want the works (includes armour all tires, clearcoat protectant, rain X windshield, etc) it's $19. I have used them a few times this winter (too damn cold in NJ to wash myself) and they have done an outstanding job. Once the car comes off the line, they park it in the lot and towel off using newly washed towels and clean the interior (they have about 10 washing machines and dryers and once they've used a towel it goes directly into the washing machine). They spend about 15 minutes just drying and cleaning the interior (the owner sits outside and watches all the guys do their work). I once complained about the car's wheels not coming out clean and the owner told the guys to rewash the entire car and he gave me a coupon for a free wash forthe next time I go! Not a bad deal in my mind. I still do all the waxing myself and I think if you just do it for the winter, you can't beat the $55 deal. Just make sure their towels are clean.

Remember also that automatic car washes seem to use a HELLUVA lot less water--better for the environment, undoubtedly. And if you got the $55/month sitting around, what else are you going to spend it on? --Mitch

Its not a ton of money, but for me its more of a convinience than a savings, because I love my car to be clean, but I just don't have the time or energy to do it myself every few days.. Black car. Go Figure. hehe

I think I will sign up for it in a few weeks when I have the time to get around to it. I've been so busy this last month and a half, its unbelievable, but very good for my business.

S--t! That's right, your car is black. I forgot. I would do it in a heartbeat. Go by every couple of days at lunchtime, grab a seafood salad sandwich from Subway (nice alliteration, huh?), and let them clean it for you.

Mitch, I couldn't agree more. Singed up for it today, got the car cleaned and all. I'll take it back monday or tuesday for another wash, then again a couple of days later. After I have had them wash it a few times, I'll have them do the monthly wax job.

Found out today the deal includes unlimited washes, and a once a month wax.

Car looks so much better when its clean, I shoulda done this months ago.

By my place they give you a basic wash for 3 bucks, and they use nice brushes, that don't scratch the paint. I only bring the car to the wash in the winter, because washing it is a pain in the ass.

Wadda Buncha WIMPS!

CRIPES! A man works damn hard for his Mercedes, and should at least look forward to bonding with his car by washing it by hand HIMSELF! What has happened to you all? Have you gone SOFT? What would Rudy Daimler think of you poncy little namby-pamby, rootie-poo, candy-asses takin' yer Mercedes' to a CAR WASH? Are you all insane?

What has happened to all of the Alpha-Male Mercedes owners who used to be out there, in their own driveways, every Saturday, proudly carressing their machines, melding with the bodywork through the use of the high quality soaps made specifically for their paintjobs? HUH?

Besides being good for your car, it's good for your soul DAMMIT! Bring a little chilled beverage of your choice, and get out there and give your car a bath and a once-over inspection like MEN!

Now drop and give me twenty with sheepskin car wash mits!

Inspection will be at 05:00! You fail to pass, and you WILL wash it again, DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR???? :p

In Michigan washing your car your self is only fun three months of the year and when it is sunny we'd rather be on Lake Michigan.

My only problem is its a black car, and you have to keep it cleaner than other cars. If it was silver I could let it slide for a week or two easy, but since its black, I don't have the time to wash it every other day.

Alon

BCgreen, the car wash is on sepulveda blvd between santa monica blvd and olympic blvd.

Its called sepulveda west and is just a block south of the sports club la.

I love taking my car in for a wash every two days because thats about how long it takes to get it real dirty. hehe

Now It's Gettin' Serious...

All you mechanical/touchless/hand car wash buffs should read the other current car wash thread "Liquid Cascade as car wash?". Specifically heed the comments made by John (JCE) at the end of page 1 .

And didn't I hear somewhere that over washing wasn't good for the car's finish? Besides, don't you know all of this car washing is just making it rain?
