Stripping the interior?
How hard would it be to completely strip the interior of my 300TD? I'm thinking of running wiring and installing Dynamat under the roof, inside the doors, and under the floors. I would be putting the original carpet, headliner, etc. back in.

if it isn't much different than the sedan, then it isn't much trouble at all. mine is currently stripped down to the bare metal inside for some rust repair, steam cleaning, and a general checkup. the hardest part for me was getting the driver's seat out and even that wasn't too bad.
basically, pulling the seats (4 bolts each) and unsnapping the carpets (2 snaps per side on mine) will get you down to the floor pans. of course then you still have the center console, rocker carpet, etc. the factory insulation can be a bit of a pita to remove if you are planning on putting in dynamat - a heat gun and a putty knife was the best i could do and it took forever except where some leaking water had made my life much easier by breaking down whatever adhesive was originally used. be careful with the plastic wire channel covers, they crack fairly easily if you twist them trying to get them out.

dry ice makes removing factory sound insulation tar cake... put some dry ice on ie.. then chip it away
careful with some of the interior pieces.. the b pillar bottom plastic trim isn't made anymore or in stock! Removing the headliner will be fun.. the entire headliner frame weighs like 70 lbs |

Thanks for your input. I think I'll wait for the return of warm weather . . . .
