under the front seats

i am interested in giving my car a very good detailing job, as it is getting warmer. today i tried and failed to take out the front seats on the 84 300td... the front bolts seem obvious but i cant find access to the rear bolts. I want to clean all the old crud out of there but im afraid i'll have to go under the car to take out the seats.

is there another way to do it?
