I am in need of some assistance. I am trying to access the seat vacuum lock release button on a 300CD coupe to replace an attachment clip. I need to get access from the back of the backrest. I have successfully removed the two corner trim pieces at the back corners of the seat by removing one screw at the bottom of each piece and lifting off. But I still cannot get the back panel off, the part to which the net attaches to. I have a Mercedes service manual but it does not say how to remove the panel, just to remove it. Is it suppose to just slide out after the corner pieces are removed, or is there a trick I don't know about? More screws or fasteners? It appears loose at the bottom, but is attached rigidly at the top. I have tried to slip a putty knife between the panel and upper part of the backrest to break any "weld" that may have ocurred over the years, but this did not work. I assume a sedan seat comes apart the same way.
Don't want to damage the seat. Any help will be appreciated. ![]() |

Removing the seat back panel in the 300TD requires removing the screw that is centered at the bottom of the panel and then pulling down on the panel. The top of the panel is just shoved into the top. You may have to give it a tug to release it. Just 1 screw holds it at the bottom.
Is it the same in the CD I would think so. It was the same in the W126 and the 240D. Dave
