WOW guys, this didn't take me long at all!!! I ended up fabricating my own bolt and rubber gasket to lessen the vibration. This will solve most of your problems, 20k miles so far so good. The main culprit was the back mount, drilled the hole out, and put in my own creation. Works like a charm.

As Steve pointed out, usually the root cause of repetitive bracket breakage is bad engine mounts.

I just did this today, junkyard bracket and mounts, probably will have to redo soon.. Wasn't that hard, the trick is to do it by sticking the socket directly on the ratchet, and using the approx 2 inch of movement you have to loosen it, then just use a standard extension without fitting the socket all the way on (12 point)... I don't have any swivels... The hardest part was getting around the turbo oil line

My bracket had a stress crack, is this how they normally fail? Anyway, removed it, took a wire brush to it, then took it to my mechanic friend and we cut a piece of scrap steel and welded it to the bracket for reinforcement behind over the fracture and welded the fracture as well. Good as new!

Is there anyway to retrofit the air filter housing from a 84-85 CA emissions into a older SD?

Can you say rack damper? Stops vibrations cold.
