Need Trunk Lock Tip

This is for the 240d. I often keep the trunk unlocked since there really isn't anything there to steal. However, I noticed that I sometimes now have to 'unlock' it using the key manually everytime. Is the lock easily removable and is it easy to take apart and fix? Need your expert opinions.
