Well I finally got a chance today to get my injectors checked, all I can say is I have at least 1 good one!

Last winter I decided to buy a new set of injectors for my SDL, but ever since I have had a skipping problem on start up. So today I pulled them out and had them checked. I had to go to class but my dad took them into the injector shop, pop pressure and leak down was fine but 5 had poor spray patterns. My dad was watching he said the fuel would shoot out in a stream but then it would start to mist?

Maybe their is junk in their somehow? Can they be cleaned? I am not to happy with spending another $90 each to have the 5 bad ones re-built. I was under the false impression that when you drop $300+ on 6 rebuilt injectors at least a few of them would be good.

For now I am not doing anything I don't have a spare $500 to spend on them. Also the car seems to be running fine.

Moral of this story is don't waste your money on Bosh injectors have your old ones checked. The kicker is that my originals were probably better then the ones I replaced them with.

Start calling diesel places, truck repair, etc. Tell them your problem. If you car is running OK, I say leave it alone.

If I have them fixed I want this shop to do it, they know their stuff and stand behind their work! It is a small shop that has been their forever, half the time the owner does the work. Or is the one you talk to.

My theory on my skipping is this: The injectors fire poorly at first so could this cause it to skip and run poorly for the first 30 or so seconds? Sometimes it sounds like one injector line is open. The skipping is more time related then temp. It will skip bad on a 100 degree day but on a 35 degree day it won't at all.

Mine did the same thing, but the opposite in temperatures. It would skip at start up on a cold day with a cold engine.. say below 40F. Warm to hot weather it was perfect.

I just replaced my original injectors on my 1977 300D with Bosch rebuilts I boughtfrom FastLane.

Popped the old one's out and the new one's in. I was shocked at the positive performance difference. Easier start-up, smoother idle, less valve clatter, holds speed better going up steep hills, and I gained about 10 mph in top speed.

Best $ I have ever spent, maybe I was just lucky.

Maybe someone should suggest that FastLane offer a rebuild service. Or, check each injector prior to shipping for another $15.00. That would be GREAT!!!

I bought these from Fastlane or Phil I don't remember back in Feb. It isn't their fault it is Bosch's for letting crap nozels be made in India.

You were lucky that you got one good injector. My rebuilds were ALL bad. If you do a search you'll see how much pain I went through with my injectors. Do you still have your originals? If so you should have them tested.

No the originals went back for the core charge.

I called a local injector shop yesterday. He will check my injectors while I wait for $5.00 each. He said it would take about 30 minutes to check them all. He will totally rebuild and warranty each injector for about $50 - $55 each, this would be about 6 hours he said. This sounds pretty good to me. Is this in-line with what the costs should be?

Where's the guy? That price sounds good. I've been wanting to buzz over to Diesel Power in Greenville to see what they would charge....

It's on Bluff road here in Columbia. I am at home now but will post name of shop and phone number later @ work. He was a very nice guy. Said if I still had issues after rebuild they will help me diagnose the problem. Super customer service.

I had the same thing happen to me. Bought 6 from Fastlane and 5 were bad. Phil replaced the 5 and one of them was bad. Finally I have 6 good ones. It's a shame to buy injectors and have to have them tested before installing. Poor quality control.
