Brakes that moan and groan....
Recently I swapped a 240D and some cash for an '87 300SDL.I have searched the forums, with no luck, for brakes that MOAN or GROAN... mine definitely do not SQUEAK. It's maybe 50% of the time that the brakes are applied that there's a low groan...other times they're fine. This is true at all different speeds.Any suggestions or help will be appreciated.

Have you pulled the wheels and checked the condition of the pads and rotors? A pad may be worn unevenly or a rotor may have a very poor surface finish.
I just replaced the rotors on the SDL. There was a noticeable groove for the track where the pads sit and the pads had worn some decent grooves in the face. No groaning noises, but, I wouldn't have been surprised. |

A lot of groaning noises I've seen in brakes were caused from broken pad facings.
