Need help - shift problem
I have apparently goofed up something. I have just gotten the 1982 300sd back from the mechanic. He put in new vacuum valves on top of the valve cover. He checked vacuum, adjusted modulator 2 turns, he told me and the car was shifting beautifully. It was smooth. You didn't hear or even feel first or second shift. You could put foot to the floor from a stop and she would smoothly shift into all three gears and take off!
Degreased my engine Friday with degreaser and hot water from a low pressure garden hose (not a pressure washer). Now when I really put my foot into it from a stop, she is holding back from shifting into 2nd gear until the engine revs to 4000RPM. Then if I keep my foot in the floor, she revs again to 3500-4000 RPM before shifting. Once in third gear, she runs fine, but it is like the engine is reved up beyond normal and shift is delayed and has lost that smoothness it had.
Have I knocked a vacuum line loose? I am going to look now. Please help me. I can't drive it like this.
