I would too but only for MB diesel engines, the M119 V8 wins hands down in gas world. It would be interesting seeing a comparision between the two, even though they are very different.

Greetings from Tulsa Oklahoma!

I'd love to see a modern mag article of our wonderful engines!

Yeah, I read those Legendary Engine articles. I was just doing it last night with some back issues. It's like a $9.00 mag so I haven't bought one lately. Great history lesson but I wish the pictures were better, the're always so dark when you're trying to pick out some interesting engine detail the writer is pointing out.

have these articles profiled the absurbly efficient M186? not a diesel, but it was the first production petrol engine with direct fuel injection, and it looked nice canted at 50deg below ram induction pipes making removal of the engine the easiest way to change spark plugs.

did i actually mention sparking plugs here?? ... of course my vote is for the OM617!

Except three. I love to throttle my 3-cyl, Mannheim-produced, John Deere 2040 back to about 500 rpm and listen to the chant.

I love to observe the (typically) young owners of Chevy Coloaraos on their BBS who rave over the idea that GM came up with a 5 cylinder engine. Some even question if 5 cylinder engines can last!

... and they probably won't if Chevy designed them.
