For dieselers in Toronto: Mobil 1 red cap avail in Wall Mart

Hi, I saw Mobil 1 15W50 red cap at Wal Mart for 7.49 per L or a 4.4L jug for 33 bucks or so. I also bought some Wayne injector cleaner, 3 bottles for 6.47. Id say they have some pretty good prices.

Speaking of oil, I bought some AGIP 10W40 synthetic oil for 7$ / L, I think my next oil change will be MOBIL 1 15W50. THe bottle says it pours to -45C, would you guys use it in winter also?

ohhh I fillled up at a truck stop , 75.9 cents /L , still pretty darn expensive.

And this would conlcude my shopping report.

I talked to Mobil and they said we could use Delvac 1 or more easily advailable Mobil 1 Truck and SUV formula which is CI-4 rated. People have looked at the MSDS on the Truck and SUV formula and compared it to Delvac 1 and said they were the same.

Truck and SUV formula is easily advailable at Wal*Mart. Not sure about Wall Mart.

BTW, someone is going to damn you to hell for going to Wal*Mart. You wait and see.

Hi, I live just outside Toronto. Been using Mobil 1 15W50 since the summer and the car has been down to about -18 overnight while outside a couple times. No trouble cranking and oil pressure still shoots right up to 3 very quickly.

Every bottle of 15W50 I bought so far has been at Canadian Tire. It was on sale for about 3 or 4 weeks before Christmas, the big jug was 28.99 I believe. Normally it's 32.99 I think.

I actually filled up with Sunoco diesel today, and decided I would use the "GOLD Diesel" instead this time. It was 79.9 cents/L instead of 77.9. The car definitely has way more oomph now with this fuel. I'm sure it has a higher cetane rating, and it says a few other things like better lubricity and some other additives on Sunoco's website. The car is a bit like a rocket though now. Remarkably noticeable difference though. I'd love to know what the actual cetane rating is compared to normal Sunoco diesel.

Maybe it's time to start using some kind of cetane booster regularly, and if so, has anyone that is using one noticed that it makes any difference in mileage? I expect it would...

Hello, in my area, the Canadian Tire had MOBIL one for sale, the one with a green cap. When I checked it out, it didn't have any diesel ratings on it.

ohh and yes its WAL MART, not WALL MART

I have yet to find Mobil Delvac-1 easily available (ie. not mail order in bulk) or the Mobil Truck & SUV Synthetic anywhere in Canada. Wally-Mart certainly doesn't stock it here and I just got blank looks when I asked about it. If anybody has a good source for either in the Toronto area please let me know.

Are there any problems or concerns using Mobil-1 15-50 rather than Delvac-1? I know it does have a CF rating, so what does Delvac-1 have that regular Mobil-1 doesn't?

I have heard before that there is a difference in the 2 types of Mobil 1 15W50, one has green cap and the other red cap. The one with red cap has a CF rating and the other does not. The one with green cap has a "for gasoline " sticker on it. This is from my observations at a local Wal mart and Canadian Tire store.

I thought that the Mobil-1 with a Green Cap was 10W-30 and is not CF rated.

15w-50 is fine for our light duty diesels. I use it because it is cheaper and more availible then Delvac 1/ Truck and SUV oil.
