A few years ago Mercedes had an ad in the Wall Street Journal that told everything that happened to their car in a front end collision. This ad was awsome, but I neglected to cut it out and have never been able to find it again.

I do not drive a Mercedes to show off. That picture explains why I am a Mercedes owner. Last year, one of my cousins was involved in a head on collision. Thank God she was driving her mother's 1988 W126. She was able to open the door and walk away from the accdent. The other driver was not so lucky, car had to be cut open. In my opinion, an older Mercedes is the best car to be in if you are going to have an accident.

unlike the W123, the W124 was designed with offset-frontal collisions in mind and hence were tested this way. The offset frontal tests are specified in percent overlaps, with a smaller overlap figure meaning the collision forces are concentrated on a smaller area. A 100% overlap means a full-frontal collision.

The offset-frontal design actually started with the W126. The newest models have elliptical front bulkheads to further improve the distribution of forces in such collisions.

I have a 69 220 D, and I was thinking of selling it. My exterminator came over one day to do his yearly thing, and I told him of my idea, and he says, "Why, someone hit my brand new pick-up with one of those things and totalled my truck, and he just got a scratch on his bumper."

I am keeping it, so my kids can learn to drive in it. Guess they will be safe then! Not to mention the top speed is 82 mph. But, it stops from 80 to 0 in 254 ft. 92 dodge viper..... 261 ft. kiss my butt mopar!

Let me preface this by saying my heart goes out to the victim in this accident and I decided to change the person's name to John Doe just because I want to be sensitive about this story. I am posting this only as a reason as to why one should drive a safe car but I am also realistic in that one could die in any car. This was in a newspaper about 18 days ago.


Man dies, woman hurt in Fairfield crash

A Fairfield man was killed and an Easton woman injured Friday night following a two-car accident on North Benson Road, the town's first fatal accident of the new year.

John Doe, 45, of Robin Lane was driving north on North Benson in his Honda Accord when he suddenly veered into the southbound lane and struck a 2001 Mercedes Benz station wagon, police said Saturday.

Doe was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital shortly after the 7:30 p.m. collision near 1384 North Benson Rd. The 1998 Accord sustained heavy damage.

The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is expected to perform an autopsy on the body today. Police are still probing the incident and have made no ruling yet on its cause. The Special Services Unit of the Fairfield Police Department is handling the case.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz, Jane Lee, 51, of Burroughs Road, Easton suffered minor injuries. She was treated and released from St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.

Fire Platoon Commander George Gomperts said that firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free her from the damaged Mercedes Benz. Medics then transported her to the hospital.

"There was an extrication to help the woman out of the vehicle," he said.

Attempts to contact does' family were unsuccessful Saturday.

The driver's daughter, Sophie Lee, said her mother is recovering and is grateful for the police and fire department's quick response to the accident.

"She is recovering. She is fine. She said the firemen and the police officers responded very quickly. They were very helpful and worked together," Sophie Lee said.

North Benson Road has a history of motor vehicle accidents, Gomperts said. In March 2002, a Norfolk, Mass. woman suffered serious head injuries after her car struck a telephone pole near where the street meets Walls Drive.

That's a terrible, story. I wonder what caused the fellow in the Accord to veer into the Benz?
