Is it just me, or does it seem like there is an unusually large amount of SDL's on eBay? Maybe I just never paid that much attention.

There were several 350SDL's in the last few weeks with mileage under 100K. The bidding on all stopped in the high 7's and low 8's, none met reserve. The cars looked very nice.

A friend of mine posted a bid of $5600 on this one before asking me to take a look at it.

What I see is that the car has been repainted, and not the original color. According to the VIN, the original color was Nautical Blue (lighter and more silver) and it has been repainted something closer to Deep Blue. The engine bay picture shows the original color on the front crossmember. You can also see in that pic that the inner driver's side fender is the new color, which screams "wreck" to me. Of course the seller says in the ad that it is the original paint.

My friend is now hoping to get outbid, but if he's still high bidder when it get's close to the end I'll tell him to retract his bid.

The color under the hood appears to match the exterior on my monitor. The only sign of something being not quite right that I see is the placement of the 300SDL badge on the decklid being too close to the edge. This isn't indicative of PPW, as the emblem could have been knocked off by someone buffing the car or @ a carwash.

The seller advertises the car as not having had any prior collision. Nautical blue is a dark blue , as depicted, it is a dark metallic blue, the color code is #929 , and it was an option for MY 1984-1991.
Perhaps you were thinking of silverblau metallic?

FYI I have no relation to the seller, just sharing a point of view .

If you look at the firewall, it looks as though there is overspray there with a lighter shade of blue underneath.
