Best way from Charlotte, NC - Ft. Wayne, IN?

Right now I'm in Charlotte, NC visiting with my sister and the way we took took almost 12 hours. Would anyone know of a better way? We went through Louiseville then took 75 - 85.

What do you guys think?

Thanks
David

P.S.
The car turned 250k right before we go here. I would have taken a pic but my picture phone is worthless in that category.

I presume that you went 75 to 40 to 26 to 85.

It's 650 miles. It's a solid 11 driving hours.

I don't see any shorter route for you but, I've never travelled the southern end of this route.

another route

I just mapquested it... they went I-77 N toward Cincinnati, then some state roads across Ohio. Their route was 585 miles just generically picking "charlotte" and "ft. wayne".

If you want to head back across 40 to pick up 75 there are 2 minor options that would save a little time.

A. start on I-85 S then pick up 321 N out of Gastonia (in NC about 20 miles west of Charlotte). It will take you to I-40W.

or

B. As you are going through SC on I-85, look for ( I believe) it is Rt 11. It cuts 2 sides of a triangle off I85S - I26W.

Hey you missed my house by 6 miles... Take I-77 back through OHIO, pretty ride and shorter....

The short-cut from I-26 is hwy 74, off of I-85 near Kings Mtn. NC, ends at Columbus NC, I-26....

I think I'll go the Gastonia way. I'll take 321 to I40. Thanks guys. I didn't know if perhaps anyone had any good shortcuts or tips.

Thanks
David
