How difficult is it to put in a 300D turbo into a 240D manual ?
Is it worth putting a 300D Turbo engine into a 240D manual ? What would I have to change ? Would the fly wheel still be the same or would I have to source a new one ?
Would you recommend this ? Kamil

![]() I was pondering this myself...why rob peter to pay paul and destroy a 240D when you can just transplant your 300D engine into a 240D!

I asked a Large MB shop in Miami this same question a few months back and he claims to have done this upgrade many times without much of a problem. I would like to see the longer term results myself say how is it functioning after 20000 miles.

Do a search on this site. It is pretty straightforward. You do have to use the manual tranny cars flywheel if I remember correctly.

Which adapter plate would I have to use if the 300D turbo is a 1984 and the 240D is from 1983.
I wonder if the driveshaft will have to be changed. Kamil

Would the climate control system from the engine compartment fit directly to my 240D ? I know it's a long shot but maybe it does.... how about the climate control inside the car ?

Kamil, I think you need to better explain the parts that you have available to you to get good answers here. Not everyone is following along with your recent acquisitions.
He is mixing parts from three cars in this conversion. From what I have read here I think you have enough to do a bolt-up conversion. The driveshaft from the manual 240D would be my main question. I think you on to something here. That car will be fun to drive if you build it with a turbo and manual four-speed. |

This is the car that I will be modding: 1983 240D Automatic
I have all the parts necessary to convert my automatic to a manual - taken from a 1983 240D Manual I also have a 1984 300D with a great turbo engine (only 150k) What I want to do first is change my 240D auto to a manual and then I want to drop a 5 cyl turbo into that 240D. I noticed that the 300D climate controls in the engine compartment are different than the ones on my 240D. If I am putting the 300D turbo engine into the 240D what will happen to the climate control ? Will it just swap ? Thanks

Put an automatic behind a wimpy 2.4?
I have a 240D with a 4 speed manual. I love it, but it is a wus. I couldn't imagine trying to keep up with traffic with an automatic transission.
