Talking Things I've fixed on my new SD

Had a nice productive time on the new crappy but has potential SD I bought. I took a wrong turn and saw it sitting about two years ago, and would leave notes every now and then, finally after the flooded creek tried to wash it away and the grumpy neighbors slashed two of the tires, the guy was ready to sell it. Spent a day getting it started (lots of priming, new battery, fresh fuel in the fiter), it did it's thing and started chugging away. Put on his spare and the spare out of mine and cleared the clumps of sticks and mud out of the suspension and it was ready to roll. It actually drives great, good power, no smoke, it has 295,000 but seems like the suspension has been rebuilt (good rubber on the boots, track rods look good) and I think the engine has been pulled and rebuilt, the block is painted in a way you couldn't do with it in the car.
Things I've fixed so far...plugged vac leaks that kept it from stopping, fixed the fuel delivery adjustment device (didn't want to get scolded for calling it the gas pedal ) adjusted the vac modulator to firm up the slipping shifts, up-ed the idle speed to where the engine doesn't lurch around, fixed the fuel level sender (that's going to get its own thread) put a motor I had laying around in the driver window, and figured out how the get the climate control going (his had broken buttons, had one of those around too).
Next comes replacing the leaky return lines and cigar hose and finding out where the tranny fluid leak is, and figuring out why the odometer and cruise control stopped working.
Just had to share the satisfaction of getting this heap rolling again....

Sounds like you got a diamond in the rough. Good luck with that project.

Sounds like my car. I didn't have a pedal for a while... just a rod on the floor! Also my linkage someone had jacked with and was VERY far off. The vehicle had to be floored to move what it is about 30% throttle now. Not fun to do.

Before I redo my interior (my paint is long gone) the timing chain will be done early fall. Better safe than sorry. My motor runs strong and is already up to 217k

Sounds like yours, just as mine, was ready for the boneyard too before ya got ahold of it.
