1987 300 TDT wagon brings big $$ on Ebay

I reluctantly sold my 1987 Mercedes 300 TDT on Ebay this afternoon. The price has me in shock!!! $11,655 for a car that is 18 years old with 234,xxx miles. This car is in excellent condition but I thought that $9,000 would have been a really good price. Was I lucky or are good examples of this model bringing this kind of money with regularity. I'll miss the car terribly but the $$ in my pocket helps ease the pain.

that's funny- quite a bit more than I paid in £ for my '94 124.

Just make sure the buyer isn't from Nigeria and sends you a cheque for twice the amount...

I hate to admit it but I left the exact car at a body shop after the rear cross member cracked. I think about that car all of the time, and wonder if it is still there.

I just lost out on an 87 300TD by $25 a few days ago. I bid 700 more that what I planned but oh well. I could have really used a wagon!

The way Ebay works it was unlikely to be just $25 dollars.....that other dibber may have had a proxy of $1k more than you did for all you know.

The only way to win on item on Ebay is to use a sniping program that bids in the last 10-20 seconds.

If you bid throughout the auction, all you are successful in doing is bidding up the price of the item. People want to bid as little as possible, and only raise their bids when they have time to react to other bids.

By bidding at the very end of the auction, they don't have time to react.

Wow... this is great for you Honeygrove. Don't worry, judging by the winning bidder's feedback, he'll probably go through with the purchase.
