Take the old O ring to a parts store...many have O ring kits with every size under the sun.............Unless you need one for the shuttle boosters.

THe Hardware store I go to has their kit in three metal boxes in sizes up to at least 4" .........and then there is Metric kits.....Its possible your store had a smaller kit....

Just noticed you are in Scotland....so not sure what places you have at your beconing there....try stores that sell plumbing supplies...or building supplies as well as auto parts.....
