Brian I hate to give you bad news but your IP is about to blow up!

Just kidding, your fuel filters are probably pluged.

Hahaha. It sat for about five hours. I took it home (60 miles) and it has cured itself of its malaise.

Go figure.

I'll look at the fuel filters tomorrow.

Hmm I wouldn't overlook the tank vent then. Next time it does that pull over if you can crack the cap and listen for a loud whoosh.

24 gallons!?!?! I need to check my manual. And here I thought it was closer to 13 and that I was getting INCREDIBLY gas mileage. Eek!

I'm pretty sure that's how it works or it least how I understood it. So the tank is just one tank with a portion in it being capable to handle 3 gallons or so.

Thanks
David
So if I understand you correctly, the reserve is part of the main tank so the true capacity is really about 24 gallons?

I think it's actually 21.1 total meaning = 18.3 + 2.8 gallons of reserve.

My 6.9 holds 25.4 gallons....and there is supposed to be 3.4 or so gallons of reserve ....there's no way it holds 29 gallons.

res...

i doubt that there is any wall separating any of the tank. it is really just a warning light, i believe.

Like I said, I'm not sure that is what there is but I thought that's what I read here a long time ago. I thought it had something to do with when the car was low and would be turning, the fuel would still remain around the pick-up so you wouldn't lose fuel temporarily on turns? I don't think it's much of a wall, just a median per say. However, there may not be, I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks
David

I had the problem of losing power when the tank was low on fuel. The stariner in the tank was plugged with fungus but only part way up. So the when the fuel level was above the plugged level of the strainer, the engine got enough fuel.

Cleaning the strainer solved the problem temporarily but eventually the strainer plugged compleletly. The strainer had to be cleaned again and the fuel system had to be treated with a fungicide.

Since the treatment I have had perfect performance except for one necessary replacement of the inline filter. I suspect that was caused by the dead fungus collecting in the inline filter.
