I found two loops that come from behind the valve cover and bend toward the front (one on each side) but they sure dont look like they would hold the engine.
the one on the front drops down behind the pulley in the center and then across to the a/c it looks like about 1/8" steel. Let me know if this sounds right.

I have about decided that the Haynes Mercedes-Benz Diesel 123 series 1976 thru 1985 4 & 5 cyl looks nothing like my car. Components are located different than shown and dont resemble what mine looks like. Is there a better manual I can attain for the purpose of pulling the engine and using it for purposes other than powering a MB sedan?
